MESOTHELIOMA:

is a deadly signal tumor of the lining of the lungs and/or pleura. It is almost always caused by a known or unknown exposure to asbestos dust and fibers.
Asbestos
the “miracle” mineral. How amazing it must have seemed... a fiber, born of pure rock, that was strong, heat and acid resistant, even fireproof, yet could be woven into cloth like wool from a lamb. They put it in everything… electrical and pipe insulation, spackling, motor vehicle and railway brakes, floor and ceiling tiles, wallboard, pipes, siding... even the big fireproof curtains with the name “Asbestos” emblazoned reassuringly across the vaudeville stages. It was the answer to the prayers of the Industrial Age. Who knew that those microscopic, indestructible fibers were little time bombs, ticking away inside the human body for 25…35…45 years, slowly causing what we now know as:
Cancer
You may be a victim, or the spouse, child or friend of a victim of one of the asbestos-related diseases, such as mesothelioma. You are here because you want to learn more about the medical diagnosis, treatments and prognosis, as well as your legal recourses at this time.
Asbestos & Mesothelioma
Since World War II, it is estimated that over 10,000 shipyard workers in Hawaii alone have been exposed to asbestos fibers on the job. Many more have been exposed at building and construction sites. Multiply that by 50 states and you have some idea of the magnitude of the problem in this country.
Unfortunately, it often takes 10 to 50 years for victims to develop symptoms, so many have innocently handled or worked around the deadly substance for decades -- ultimately sealing their fate.
The worst part is that asbestos manufacturers have known of the dangers since the 1930's, yet chose to say nothing. Only recently, as asbestos-related cancer has begun to manifest itself in the world's population are we seeing any revelation of the ugly truth. And justifiably, negligent asbestos companies are being made to compensate victims and their families.
If you or a family member has been diagnosed with asbestosis, mesothelioma or asbestos-related lung cancer, you should know your options, both medical and legal.
